Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Cairo, Transfer to Hotel

Welcome to Cairo, Egypt. You will be met upon arrival at Cairo International Airport, assisted with the formalities and transferred to your hotel.

At the hotel, they will help you with a smooth check-in and confirm the pickup times for each tour. The rest of the day is free.

If you arrive early you might want to take a Nile dinner cruise or enjoy a spectacular sound and light show at the Pyramids of Giza (both can be booked locally upon arrival).

Day 2: Pyramids and Sightseeing in Cairo

After breakfast at your hotel, your Egyptology guide will meet you and accompany you to the Pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus of Giza. Enjoy a fantastic introduction to each of the three pyramids, then explore these structures that have stood tall for over 4,500 years. Here you can enter the Great Pyramid (additional ticket on site).

Then drive to the panoramic area to take great photos of the pyramids or opt for the camel ride in the pyramid area (additional cost) and then continue to visit the Valley Temple of King Chephren and the Great Sphinx

Next, your adventure tour continues to the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, home to one of the largest collections of ancient artifacts in the world. Stroll through the masses of glittering artifacts recovered from young King Tutankhamen’s tomb, making for an awe-inspiring sight: from jewelry to the famous gold death mask and its gold sarcophagi, this pharaoh was undoubtedly prepared for the afterlife. You’ll also have time to visit the museum’s Royal Mummy Room to meet some of the country’s most important queens and pharaohs up close in (extra ticket on spot).

Next to Coptic Cairo, part of Old Cairo that includes the fortress of Babylon the Hanging Church, the Church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus (Abu Serga) and the Ben Ezra Synagogue.

Then drive to Islamic Cairo and marvel at Cairo’s largest market, the Khan el Khalili Bazaar. Upon completion, return to your hotel and swim before an optional dinner or pyramid show

Day 3: Flight from Cairo to Luxor / Karnak and Luxor Temples

Early in the morning you will be picked up and transferred to Cairo Airport for your flight from Cairo to Luxor. Here you will be received, taken care of and driven to visit the Karnak Temple, one of the most famous temple complexes in the world. The Karnak Temple is perhaps the most impressive of all the monumental works of the ancient pharaohs. Karnak is a house of the gods built over a period of approximately 2000 years. Your guided tour of this huge temple with its impressive avenue of sphinxes, pylons, porticos, obelisks and chapels will show its best sections.

Continue to Luxor Temple, which was once connected to Karnak Temple by a three kilometer avenue of sphinxes, part of which marks the entrance to Luxor Temple. The interior walls and columns are dominated by statues of the great warrior Pharaoh Ramses II and are adorned with intricate hieroglyphs that your guide will help you decipher. Find out how Alexander the Great left his mark on Luxor Temple history and see one of the two original obelisks, the second of which now stands in
on the Place de la Concorde in Paris.

Enjoy lunch at a quality local restaurant and then transfer to your hotel in Luxor. The rest of the day is free to relax and shop at the bazaar (open quite late).

Day 4: The Valley of the Kings / Flight from Luxor to Cairo

Breakfast at your hotel, then visit the Valley of the Kings, the largest tomb in ancient Egypt. There are more than 162 tombs of pharaohs, nobles and queens here. richly decorated with reliefs and paintings. With your guide, explore this spectacular and vast site where the pharaohs of the New Kingdom (16th to 11th centuries BC) were secretly buried for all eternity and where discoveries are still being made. Visit
3 of the best preserved tombs. Your Egyptologist will explain the history and legends of these remarkable people, their burial rites and the meaning of the many paintings and hieroglyphs that are well preserved in the deepest tombs. While you’re here, you’ll have the opportunity to visit the tomb of young King Tutankhamun (additional ticket available on site).

Continue to the Mortuary Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, an impressive columned building nestled against high cliffs, forming a spectacular natural amphitheater. The legendary Hatshepsut had this mortuary temple built in
to show her importance and to honor her ancestors.

After returning to Luxor, you will have time for a short photo stop at the Colossi of Memnon, which mark the site of the mortuary temple of Amenhotep III. Standing tall and proud in the West Bank, these two huge statues are all that remains of the ancient complex.

Enjoy lunch at a quality local restaurant. And then transfer to Luxor airport to take your flight from Luxor to Cairo. There you will be picked up, taken care of and transferred to your hotel in Cairo, where you will have time to relax.

Day 5: Saqqara, Memphis and Dahshur. Departure Transfer

Breakfast, your time today is free for sightseeing or last minute shopping until we transfer you to Cairo Airport for your departure flight. We therefore recommend an afternoon or evening flight as you can Join a tour this morning to visit the amazing Saqqara, Memphis and Dahshur and more of the city.

Extra nights in Cairo are also available if you wish to extend your stay.
